For Your Baseball 14U Team
For a boy, playing on a traveling baseball 14U team is perhaps one of the most exciting things he will experience during his childhood years. These teens travel around the country playing baseball tournaments starting in the late spring and early summer months. Although these teams are for recreational purposes, they are very competitive leagues.
The teams are separated by age group depending on the birth date of the player. For example, baseball 14u would typically refer to players in the 14-year-old age range. As a parent, you should expect the utmost in professionalism from your tournament director and other people who work the tournament. After all, playing in these tournaments is not free of charge so you want to get your money’s worth and feel like you’re being taken care of by the tournament director.

Each tournament will have different rules and regulations. For example, they might have a different rule about sliding, what sort of shoes are allowed, what kind of protective gear the players must wear and how tie breakers will work. You and your son should also understand that it is at the coach’s discretion as to what position your player will play in the games. Keep in mind that the coach has to choose players dependent on their skill set. Therefore, your son may not be able to play in every game or may not be able to play in the position he desires. Part of the concept of teamwork is accepting what the coach feels is best for the whole team.
